“Emerging Technologies, Globalization, and the Developing World,” a DVD pack of the symposium hosted by the International Center for Media Studies (ICMS) April 6, 2009 at CBS Studio Center. The event received excellent reviews by participants.
Ministry executives, church leaders, and foundation representatives began a dialogue about new technologies, their unique characteristics and which are most applicable in various settings around the globe.
In the opening session, Dr. Robert Fortner offers a critical definition of the transition from old media to new media. In the second session Dr. Melba Maggay discusses the tremendous influence of culture on technology and communications. In the third session, Dr. Graham Mytton discusses how communicators respond to changes in the world of broadcasting and presents a set of graphs on audience measurements and communications.
In the fourth session, a panel of experts including Dr. Douglas Pennoyer, Dr. Grace Dyrness and Dr. Melba Maggay confer about the critical role of a western organization operating or advising in an international setting.
